As the years have gone by, the vision of Burlington’s Hope Walk has changed.
First the format has evolved, and now a change in date. The annual event – which is a 5K run/walk this Saturday at Burlington High School – will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m.
“We knew we weren’t going to be able to get it together by May, just because we didn’t have the manpower to put it together,” said organizer Judy Bratz, who added that the group is working with an organizer to put on the event.
There are a few other changes to the event this year. The event will start and end in front of BHS, with the survivor lap taking place there as well before the planned 9 a.m. start.
The kids’ race will take place at 8:45 a.m., right before the 5K. Cost is $30 for the 5K and $10 for the kids’ race.
Instead of the “Candles of Hope” and luminary bags, there will be pinwheels for sale in colors of pink, purple or a metallic color, in honor and in memory of those being named. The cost remains $5.
Beneficiaries remain the same, with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Aurora Health Care and the University of Wisconsin Cancer Center.
