Arbor Day lesson

Fourth-grade students from Waller Elementary School stand ready with shovels as City of Burlington Public Works employee Joe Phillips positions a new maple tree for planting in Echo Park Friday. The tree-planting event was part of the city’s Arbor Day observance. In addition to learning how to properly plant a tree, the students got a lesson in forestry from several city employees who participated in the event that included the planting of five trees in the park.
