BASD incumbents retain their seats; Waterford referendum defeated

 

Here are the unofficial results from Tuesday’s election as reported by the area’s county clerks.

Burlington Area School District

Incumbents Kevin Bird and Barry Schmaling retained their seats on the School Board in the face of a challenge from Ryan Mueller and Aaron Melby. The unofficial vote totals are: Bird 2,336; Schmaling 2,279; Mueller 2,049; Melby 1,933.

Waterford Union High School District referendum

Voters rejected by a 2,308-2,097 margin the district’s proposal to spend $19.75 million to make repairs and upgrades to the district’s buildings.

Racine County Supervisor – District 21

Burlington Area School District member Taylor Wishau prevailed in a race with Judi Adams, 827-738, to replace incumbent Mike Dawson, who decided not to seek another term.

Town of Waterford

Incumbents Teri Jendusa Nicolai (922 votes) and Tim Szeklinski (812) retained their seats on the Town Board. The challengers were Robert Ulander (712) and Jeffrey Klyzub (418).

Village of Waterford

A trio of Village Board Incumbents retained their seats with Andrew Ewert (670 votes), Adam Jaskie (669) and Robert Nash (581) holding off a challenge from Michael Robertson (553).

Union Grove Village Board

Political newcomer Amy Sweet unseated incumbent Amy Sasse, 483-355, to claim the Trustee No. 6 seat.

Union Grove Elementary School District

Newcomer Stephanie Kurt earned a seat on the School Board alongside incumbent Dan Gruhn. Gruhn led the way with 534 votes followed by Kurt (514) and Laura Luedtke (430), who finished out of the running.

Waterford Union High School District

Nancy Klemko, who was first elected to the School Board in 1992, lost her bid for another term. She was unseated by newcomer Kelly Datka, who led all candidates with 2,814 votes. Also claiming one of the three available seats were incumbents Michael Shoenfeld (2,281) and Jeffrey Santaga (2,051). Klemko finished with 2,044 votes.

Waterford Graded School District

Incumbent Ryan Koncki and Heather Sackman claimed the two available seats on the School Board. Sackman led the way with 1,847 votes, followed by Koncki (1,576) and Stephen Levas (1,396).
