The second annual Burlington Brawl on Oct. 12 at Karcher Middle School in Burlington met its fundraising goal to benefit Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin.

According to president Taylor Wishau, of the Burlington Brawl, the event brought in $10,000 during the event one year after the inaugural showing collected $7,250 for Veterans Outreach.

Veterans Outreach, a Racine-based organization, looks to help at-risk veteran households in every community in the state.

“We were founded by community members who recognized the need and took action,” the website states. “What began as a group of volunteers in 2013 has blossomed rapidly into a growing organization.”

Wishau, who created the nonprofit organization “Ringside Valor, Inc. to raise additional proceeds, said the funds raised from the event will help finance scholarships as well as assisting Veterans Outreach.

“I also created a scholarship fund for area seniors that come from military families to put toward community college, trade school, and/or a four-year university,” Wishau said earlier this month.

Action-packed event
The Burlington Brawl featured the biggest names from Great Lakes Championship Wrestling, including Al Snow, who competed in the WWE circuit.

Wishau said the Karcher gymnasium, where the Brawl was held, saw hundreds of people in the stands.

“We had around 730 attendees,” he said. “We are donating $10,000 to Veterans Outreach. (The) crowd was amazing.”

The Burlington Brawl was made possible through partnerships with more than 50 local establishments.
