Cates, Price, Uhlenhake noted for athletic contributions
The Burlington High School Athletic Department will induct two former student athletes and one coach to the Wall of Fame on Saturday, Feb. 11.
The Class of 2011 inductees are longtime coach Dennis “Tony” Price, multisport athlete Kerry Steffens, and basketball standout Ed Uhlenhake.
The induction reception begins at 4:30 p.m.
The cost of the induction and social is $15 per person and includes heavy appetizers and beverages from Gooseberries. This also includes entrance into the Burlington High School boys basketball game against Southern Lakes Conference rival Lake Geneva Badger at 5:45 p.m. Following the
game, a ceremony will take place in the school commons with a social to follow at the Gateway Technical College Burlington Center.

Profiles of this year’s inductees follow:
Dennis “Tony” Pricewas a longtime math teacher and coach at Burlington High School. Price was an All-American football player at Bemidji State University. He held the career rushing record at Bemidji State for 40 years, rushing for 3,228 yards. He graduated from Bemidji State in 1961 with a teaching degree in mathematics. Price coached at various levels in the football, track and field, and
tennis programs at Burlington from 1963-1991. In total, Price was a part of 23 Southern Lakes Conference championships at Burlington High School. He was inducted into the Bemidji State Hall of Fame in 1984.
Kerry (Steffens) Cates, Class of 1989, participated in cross-country, volleyball, softball, and basketball during her career at Burlington High School. She was an outstanding multi-sport athlete, debatably one of the greatest female athletes to compete at Burlington High School. Cates was named to numerous All-Conference, All-Area, All-County, and All-State teams in basketball, softball, and cross-country. She was also a two-time winner of the Burlington Flat Foot Five Road Race, winning in 1988 and 1989.
Ed Uhlenhake, Class of 1974, participated in basketball during his high school career at Burlington. He helped lead Burlington to its first state tournament appearance in 1974. Uhlenhake was named the 1974 Southern Lakes Conference Basketball Player of the Year. He went on to attend the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. While at La Crosse, he was a four-year starter on the basketball team. Uhlenhake set numerous school records while at La Crosse and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 2002.
