While most election filings for both the City and Town of Burlington were routine this week, two seats on the City of Burlington Common Council will be contested.
Aldermen Jim Prailes and Jeff Fischer announced last week that they would not seek re-election, and there are two challengers for each open spot.
Peter Girolamo and Ruth Dawidziak will contend for the open second district spot held by Prailes, while Tom Preusker and Kent Strong filed to run for the open fourth district spot previously held by Fischer.
Incumbent Ed Johnson will run unopposed for alderman in the first district, while incumbent Tom Vos will run unopposed for the third district spot.
Mayor Bob Miller and Municipal Judge Marv Daniels will also be running unopposed.
In the Town of Burlington, all of the open positions will be unopposed, as only the incumbents filed election papers. Town Board members Joan Boehm and Jeff Lang, Municipal Judge Rick Scholze and Bohners Lake Sanitary District Supervisor Harvey Kandler all returned papers to seek re-election to their positions.
