As the third annual Music Matters Chocolate Walk approaches, there is a new twist to this year’s activity.
In addition to the approximate one-mile walk that includes chocolate treats at various stops, a milk stop at Wehmhoff Square and music provided by Burlington students, this year’s fundraiser scheduled for June 23 will also feature an instrument drive.
Karen Tolle, who runs the organization, is asking anyone who has a used instrument, or even lesson books or sheet music, to donate them to Music Matters the day of the event.
The group will provide a written appraisal of the instrument donation for tax purposes, and will also arrange for any repairs needed.
Music Matters will then get the items to students in the Burlington Area School District.
“Financial need doesn’t have to prevent a student from joining instrumental music classes in school,” said Tolle in a press release. “A good inventory of school-owned instruments ensures that all students wishing to try a music class will have wide opportunities.”
Items can be brought to Wehmhoff Square Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – the duration of the Chocolate Walk – the day of the event.
Anyone who can’t make the event is urged to contact Tolle at (262) 534-5694.
Tickets for the Chocolate Walk are available for $15 at the Grater Tater (140 W. Chestnut Street), the Thursday Farmer’s Market or by calling Tolle.
