Brierly charged with disorderly conduct following domestic dispute

After being suspended pending an internal investigation following a domestic incident in December, City of Burlington Police Officer Andrew Brierly has officially tendered his resignation.
City Police Chief Peter Nimmer confirmed the resignation Tuesday.
“Officer Brierly has resigned. Period,” said Nimmer, who declined to discuss any specifics regarding the situation.
Nimmer did confirm that the internal investigation by the department had not been concluded before the resignation was tendered.
Brierly was placed on administration leave following a domestic violence incident that took place following Christmas. The officer reportedly struck his girlfriend, knocking her to the floor and reportedly unconscious.
The officer then left for work. In a police report, Brierly said he was unaware that he had caused an injury to the victim.
The victim filed for a temporary restraining order, which was later extended to four years. He is due in court on June 21-22 for a jury trial stemming from the incident.
He is facing misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges.

Nail him to the Wall! No mercy!
I really wish the media would get all the facts straight before putting such rubbish out. I guess we can’t let the facts get in the way of a good story. I really wish we could have blood alcohol levels and mental state tested before we accuse every man of being an abuser. After all, girls are made up of sugar and spice and everything nice…not alcohol and depression with a need for attention. Remember media, there are four sides to every story, his, hers, the medias and the truth.
There does seem to be some missing vital information. Seems to me only a rotten seed has been planted. Good thing he has trial dates where evidence only will be to the jury for a decision; not just a rotten seed to grow and spout a bunch of rotten fruit.
I wasn’t there and would not even begin to speculate what happened with the sketchy, planted rotten seed the story provides.
Did I miss part 1 of this story? Was he arrested? If so, what jurisdiction arrested him? Did he have to post the required $150.00 bond?
Why was it an internal investigation? I am not the reporter here, just the question asker.
