After watching the project slowly reach completion over the course of the summer, City of Burlington residents will get to see the new Kwik Trip on South Pine Street (Highway 83) open next week.

The gas station and convenience store – the second of the chain in Burlington – is set for its grand opening and ribbon cutting Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. The ribbon cutting is at 10 a.m.

Mayor Bob Miller said, “It’s important for the city overall. It’s another business. It’s more jobs.

“The City of Burlington is still stepping forward, despite everything that’s going on in the state and the country.”

Miller did concede that there are some residents in the area who are unhappy with the development. When the street number was assigned to the property, neighbors thought it would be farther south on Highway 83, versus being virtually right across from Spring Brook Landing senior housing complex.

Miller said that part of the problem was with the old system used for the number. The City Council voted in June to renumber the streets under one model to avoid any further confusion.
