If you need to have a fried fish fast food fix, you won’t be able to satisfy it in Burlington for much longer.
The Long John Silvers portion of the LJS/Taco Bell restaurant located at 2056 Milwaukee Avenue will be taken out, leaving just the Taco Bell restaurant.
A similar move is rumored at two other locations – West Allis and Oak Creek.
The City of Burlington Plan Commission needed all of five minutes to approve the changes for the local restaurant Tuesday night. The commissioners voted to modify the detailed site plan and sign plan, and the conditional use permit to remove Long John Silvers.
The restaurant will also modify parking and sidewalks to make the restaurant ADA compliant.
Brandon Baquet, who represented the architect ArcVision at the meeting, said the Long John Silvers portions of the restaurants haven’t been profitable enough to justify the additional labor and space devoted to them.
“It’s not necessarily as profitable as they would like it to be,” he said.
The exterior of the restaurant will also be repainted in full Taco Bell colors, and all Long John Silvers signs will be removed.
The switch is expected to be complete later this spring.
