St. Mary Parish gears up for fall festival

Run/walk is new to slate of events

A weekend full of music, food, fun and competition is on tap Friday-Sunday at the 2012 Fall Festival at St. Mary Catholic Parish in Burlington.

New to the festival this year is a 5K run/walk set for 8 a.m. Saturday on the grounds of the St. Francis Center at highways W and 36. The entry fee is $25 per person or $60 for a family of up to four participants.

The festival will again sponsor a bean bag toss tournament for up to 32 teams on both Saturday and Sunday. Play begins at noon both days.

Entry forms for the run and the beanbag toss tournament are available on the parish website at www.stmb.org.

The friendly competition is just part of the fun.

Activities begin Friday at 5 p.m. with a Door County-style fish boil on the festival grounds in the parking lot behind the parish school. The evening continues with a live musical performance by Tim Castle and Young Southern beginning at 7 p.m.

The festival gets in full swing Saturday at 11 a.m. with food, games, a silent auction and a take-a-chance booth.

The Trinity Irish Dancers will perform at 2:30 p.m. and the Catholic Central High School Hilltoppers football team will play at the adjacent ‘Topper Bowl beginning at 6 p.m.

After the game, the entertainment continues with a performance by the popular Love Monkeys.

Sunday’s events include an outdoor Mass at the ‘Topper Bowl at 10:30 a.m.; a pork chop dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; a live auction at 1:30 p.m. and raffle prize drawings at 3:30 p.m.
