CCHS thespians ready to take the yellow brick road to Oz

Dorothy’s amazing journey “Over the Rainbow” and into the land of Oz will be told on the Catholic Central High School stage starting Friday with the CCHS Just Off Broadway production of “The Wizard of Oz.”
Teenager Dorothy Gale (played by Elizabeth Zampino) and her dog Toto are swept up from her aunt and uncle’s farm by a tornado and dropped in the land of Oz.
From there, Dorothy must travel to the capital to meet with the great Wizard, who will hopefully send her home. Along the way, Dorothy meets three guests, who tag along with their own wishes for the Wizard: The Tin Man (Adam Schuester), The Scarecrow (Andrew Sember) and the Lion (Zach Mehring).
Dorothy must also try to avoid the clutches of the Wicked Witch of the West (Charissa Zirbel), who seeks revenge for her sister’s death and also the shoes her sister was wearing – which were given to Dorothy by the Good Witch Glinda (Erin Bittmann).
The show is being directed by James Skiba, with choreography by Lakeisha Hurd/Rhemandance Company.
Shows are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17-18, at 7:30 p.m. All tickets are $12.50 for adults, $8 for children under 12, and $10 for seniors on Feb. 16.
