Local public health officials posted a water quality advisory Tuesday at the public beach on Bohners Lake in the Town of Burlington.
According to a release from the Western Racine County Health Department, the water at the beach was posted “poor” because at its current bacterial level the water could cause illness.
Signs are posted at the beach to warn people of the risk. To avoid illness, health officials recommend that people avoid ingesting the water and bathe after water exposure.
Daily tests will be conducted until the water quality is considered good.
The beach was closed for six days recently after tests revealed unsafe levels of bacteria. It reopened June 5 only to have the water quality advisory posted Tuesday.
People with questions regarding water quality should contact the Western Racine County Health Department at (262) 763-4930. Water quality testing results at local beaches are posted at www.wrchd.org.
