Haylofters tackle drama of jury deliberations

It’s the hottest day of the summer. Twelve men, tasked with deciding the fate of a young man in a murder case, sit in a jury room.
One votes “not guilty.” And so goes the award-winning play, “12 Angry Men.”
The Haylofters production of the show starts today at the Malt House Theater, with performances April 25-28, May 2-5 and May 9-12. Thursday through Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m., while Sunday shows are at 2 p.m.
The show is the Haylofters’ directorial debut for Julie Patten.
The 12 jurors are presiding over a first-degree murder case, which carries the death penalty if the defendant is found guilty. The case looks to be open and shut, and the defendant has a weak alibi. But as the deliberations unfold, the play becomes a study of humanity and how life experience plays a part in each of the juror’s votes.
Online tickets are now on sale at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/362067.
Tickets will be available at the door one hour before show time on performance dates for $10, depending on availability. If a show is sold out, a waiting list is made at the Box Office beginning one hour before curtain. The theater is often able to seat wait-listed people.
