Fast food run leads to drug charges for local man
While a Burlington man had a beef about the service he received at a local Taco Bell, police were apparently more interested in the man’s alleged criminal activities.
Dave Lee Panure, 35, was charged Monday in Racine County Circuit Court with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia as well as operation of a motor vehicle while intoxicated stemming from the incident Sunday at the Taco Bell.
The marijuana and OWI charges are filed as second offenses because, according to court records, Panure has been convicted of similar charges in the past.
Employees of Taco Bell called police to report an intoxicated customer at the restaurant’s drive-through.
According to the criminal complaint filed in the case, a City of Burlington police officer spoke to Panure, who said he went to the drive-through to purchase three burritos. Panure told the officer it took 15 minutes for the food to arrive, which he said was unacceptable. He told the officer he wanted to speak to the manager.
Police instead turned their attention to Panure, who made an initial appearance in court Monday.
The court granted a $1,000 cash bond on the conditions that Panure agree not to consume or possess controlled substances. He must also submit to random drug tests while the case is pending.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 13 in Racine County Circuit Court.
