Winter weather advisory in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday

The National Weather Service office in Sullivan has issued a winter weather advisory for all of Southeastern Wisconsin, including Kenosha, Racine and Walworth Counties, until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Here is the forecast for the three-county area:

Rest of Wednesday…much colder. Occasional snow…possibly mixed with sleet late in the morning…then snow in the afternoon.

Areas of blowing snow in the afternoon. Snow may be heavy at times late in the morning. New snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 3 inches. Total snow accumulation 2 to 5 inches. Highs in the lower 30s.

Northeast winds 5 to 15 mph shifting to the Northwest 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent.

Tonight…much colder. Cloudy. Areas of blowing snow through around midnight. Chance of light snow through around midnight…then scattered flurries after midnight. Lows around 6. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 30 percent.

Thursday…much colder. Cloudy with a 20 percent chance of light snow. Highs around 12. West winds 15 to 20 mph.

Thursday night…bitterly cold. Mostly cloudy. Scattered flurries through around midnight. Lows around 4 below. Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph. Wind chill readings 10 below to 20 below
