Burlington grad, Cowboys star Tony Romo returns today for annual football camp

The pride of Burlington is coming back to where it all started.

Fresh off a 12-4 season, near-MVP individual performance, and memorable playoff game at Lambeau Field against the Packers, 1998 Burlington High School graduate Tony Romo brings his annual football to BHS today, Wednesday, June 24, for the 10^th straight year.

Romo grew up playing football for Burlington High School and is now the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.

Two all-position camps will be offered based on grade level. Children entering third through sixth grade will attend a free afternoon camp from 1 to 3 p.m. (registration begins at 12:15 p.m.).

Those entering seventh through ninth grade will attend a free non-padded skills development morning session from 9 to 11:30 a.m. (registration and check-in begins at 8:15 a.m., and quarterbacks are expected to bring their own football).

Both sessions require advanced registration and have limited space. The camp includes a T-Shirt and are held at the Burlington High School athletic field.

In 2014, Romo threw 34 touchdowns with only nine interceptions and 3,705 yards. His quarterback rating of 113.2 was tops in the NFL, one full point ahead of NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers of Green Bay.

Also, football hopefuls can spectate in the Don Dalton Stadium bleachers, as Romo will address the audience. He will also assist all ages in football drills.

Finally, die-hard Romo fans will have the chance to attend a 10 a.m. press conference and receive Romo’s autograph, free of charge, afterward.

The autograph session should begin at approximately 10:15 a.m. in the press box area at Don Dalton Stadium, on the east side of the football field, opposite the bleachers.
