Although positive identification has not be released, authorities say they believe a man reported missing in Racine County was found dead in a Town of Brighton marsh Saturday afternoon, according to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.

According to officials, the man’s wife reported him missing to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, and friends later found the vehicle submerged in a marsh on Kenosha County Highway B and Highway 142.

When Kenosha County Sheriffs deputies responded to scene, they found the vehicle in about three feet of water.

“Deputies broke out a window and did locate a deceased male subject inside the vehicle,” the press release stated.

Preliminary reports note the vehicle traveled southbound on Highway B, where it struck a berm and landed on the front, which caused the vehicle to flip onto its roof in the water.

On scene, the Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office awaited a towing company to remove the vehicle before making a positive identification.

However, according to the press release, a caller who found the vehicle said friends were looking for the man who was reported missing with the Racine County Sheriff’s Office.

“Deputies are attempting to make positive identification of the subject located in the vehicle,” the release said. “This investigation is currently ongoing.”

Along with Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, the county Dive Team was called to scene, in addition to fire officials from the Town of Paris in Kenosha County and Kansasville in Racine County.
