Burlington Area School District Superintendent Peter Smet launches into a well-executed back flip Saturday night at the Party at the Pool hosted by the Burlington Community Pool Board. Smet agreed to get wet as part of a fundraising challenge. This year’s amount exceed by a few dollars the $600 he raised at a similar event in 2014. The party generated just over $25,000 which is being matched by a grant from an anonymous benefactor. The funds will be used to keep the current pool operating until a new facility is built and will then be applied to a maintenance fund for the new facility. The goal, according to pool board members, is to operate the new aquatic center without subsidy from local taxpayers. (Photos by Ed Nadolski)
