Burlington Area School District residents will have a chance will have a chance to meet the man who will become the district’s next superintendent during a meet and greet session set for April 4.
The three finalists for the position are Mark Elworthy, district administrator, Whitewater Unified School District; Stephen Plank, high school principal, Middleton Cross-Plains Area School District and Marty McGinley, district administrator, Wheatland J1 School District.
Each candidate will have 45 minutes to introduce themselves and answer questions from residents during the session, which will begin at 6 p.m. in the Burlington High School auditorium.
The search for a new superintendent is the top story this week’s edition of the Burlington Standard Press.

- COURT NEWS: A Burlington man accused of pulling a clump of his girlfriend’s hair out in a drunken rage is charged with three crimes including drunken driving for the third time. Steven J. Willick, 29, was charged March 21 in Racine County Circuit Court with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated – third offense, misdemeanor battery with domestic abuse assessment and disorderly conduct.
- SHHHH! IT’S YOGA: When yoga instructor Mary Spencer brought her son to a program at the Burlington Public Library, she learned about several other activities. Spencer, who operates a Twin Lakes Yoga studio, felt she could add another program to the mix by offering to hold monthly classes at the library.
- MURDER TRIAL SET: The trial of a Trevor man accused of shooting and killing two brothers outside a Twin Lakes tavern in 2017 is set to begin April 8 in Kenosha County Circuit Court. Nathan Kivi, 26, who is charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide, allegedly shot brothers Richard and Kenneth Samuel in the parking lot of the Beach Bar.
- ACES WILD: The three-time defending Southern Lakes Conference champion Burlington Demons are back on the baseball diamond, and once again there will be no shortage of arms.
