When it comes to chocolate, keeping the treat cool and fresh is the key to enjoyment.
And that’s not far off the mark the organizers set each year for ChocolateFest – Burlington’s marquee annual festival.
Organizers are looking for the right mix of new experiences and traditional favorites to keep people coming back to the festival. The search begins with a fresh theme – this year’s is: Viva Choco Vegas!
ChocolateFest, which runs through the Memorial Day weekend in downtown Burlington tops the news in this week’s edition of the Burlington Standard Press.

- CROSSING GUARD SCRAMBLE: Burlington ChocolateFest organizers have turned to local police for support after an aggressive search for a new contractor for crossing guard and pedestrian services turned up empty. The support, however, comes at an added cost for the city.
- AQUATIC CENTER EYES OPENING: After a record-setting inaugural season, the Burlington Community Aquatic Center is gearing up for the 2019 season with opening day slated for June 1.
- DRUNKEN DRIVING ALLEGED: A Burlington man is charged with a fourth drunken driving offense after he was reported for reckless driving on Highway 36 in the Town of Waterford May 14.
- A TOAST SENIOR CENTER: The Common Council on Tuesday approved a proposal to allow alcoholic beverages at the Burlington Senior Activity Center under specific conditions. Alcohol service will be limited to celebration of life services hosted at the center by a local funeral service.
- SECTIONAL BOUND: Local track and field teams from Burlington and Catholic Central high schools qualified a strong contingent of competitors for the WIAA sectional meet.
