City confirms Starbucks’ planned arrival at shopping center

The burning question for motorists traveling near Fox River Plaza is what construction crews are building on the site of former Heavenly Cup Coffee kiosk at 1054 Milwaukee Ave.
On Tuesday, City of Burlington officials had an answer – confirming that a long-rumored Starbucks would locate at the site.
Assistant City Administrator Megan Watkins said on Tuesday the city received a letter from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services-Division of Industry Services indicating the agency approved plans that will include a Starbucks.
The Starbucks store, according to the corporate website, will be the first in Western Racine County.
Mayor Jeannie Hefty, who noted many residents had suspicions it would be Starbucks, said there were initial concerns about the store.
“I know people were concerned that if it was a Starbucks, that it might affect the Coffee House (at Chestnut and Pine), but the Coffee House has got such an intimate setting and also music,” said Hefty, indicating the downtown Burlington establishment will still hold a niche in the community.
As for Burlington becoming the first community in Western Racine County to have a Starbucks, Hefty said the city feels honored to have the distinction.
