More than 150 paddle-powered watercraft joined in a Paddle Excursion on Saturday, July 3, that is becoming an Independence Day weekend tradition on Browns Lake in Burlington. The event began at 9 a.m. in the middle of the lake and the paddlers made their way through the Halls Point Channel before heading back out onto the lake to circle the island. The Paddle Excursion is free and open to anyone who wishes to participate. New to the event this year, Sarah and Patrick Sullivan of The Coffee House at Chestnut and Pine teamed up with family and friends to hand out doughnuts and a selection of hot and iced coffees to participants from a barge piloted by Brian Biedrzycki of Lakes Area Marine.
