Burlington

In this week’s Standard Press…

While there is a clear division among Burlington residents concerning the future of the Echo Lake dam, it appears people on both sides of the debate support a plan to send the issue a referendum in November.

Members of the Common Council discussed the possibility Tuesday in light of new information from the state Department of Natural Resources that the city can apply for grant money to modify or remove the dam now and decide later which path to take.

The Echo Lake dam debate and the rising possibility of a referendum to decide the issue is the lead story in this week’s edition of the Burlington Standard Press.

Copies of the newspaper will be available at local retail outlets on Thursday and subscribers will receive their copies with Friday’s mail.
