It’s difficult to imagine how terrifying it would be to wake up in the middle of the night to see your house on fire.
Racine County Circuit Court Judge Tim Boyle and his family faced that reality early Saturday morning and it was his 15-year-old daughter who emerged the hero.

DAM OR DON’T: The City of Burlington will pay an engineering firm $64,000 to create a master plan for the Echo Lake area that is expected to help Common Council members make a decision on whether to remove the dam and drain the lake or modify the dam and improve the lake. The firm is expected to present its findings in June.
A NEW CHOPPER: The first of two new helicopters arrived Monday at Flight for Life’s Burlington base – and not a moment too soon. According to Chief Flight Nurse Carissa Jones the helicopter made its first rescue flight the same evening.
COURT NEWS: A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 23 for a Burlington man allegedly found with marijuana and brass knuckles. Jordan D. Parker, 30, was charged March 11 in Racine County Circuit Court with possession of marijuana, second and subsequent offense; and carrying a concealed weapon; both as a repeater.
ADA UPGRADES: City officials plan to use nearly $1 million in Community Development Block Grant funds to finance multiple Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades at city facilities. The work includes elevators, and accessible restrooms and entries.
SUPERVISOR RACE: Voters in Racine County’s District 21 will decide on a new supervisor for the County Board during the April 5 Spring Election. The race features Judi Adams, who unsuccessfully sought the county post in 2020, and Burlington Area School District Board Member Taylor Wishau.
FALCONS FLY TO STATE: Westosha Central High School’s pursuit of a WIAA Division 2 state boys basketball championship begins with a matchup against second-seeded La Crosse Central Friday afternoon at the Kohl Center in Madison. The Falcons captured a sectional title with a 78-49 romp over Oregon on March 12.
