With the Burlington Jamboree in its second year, organizers are hoping the event catches on with the public.
Toward that end, they’ve doubled the number of live music acts and secured other types of entertainment as well. How long the event survives in the shadow of ChocolateFest will largely be determined by the success of this year’s festival.
The Burlington Jamboree is among the top stories in this week’s edition of the Burlington Standard Press. Copies of the newspaper will be available at local retail outlets on Thursday and subscribers will receive the copies with Thursday’s mail.

Here’s a look at some of the other stories in this week’s edition:
BETTER ACCESS TO MEMORIAL SOUGHT: When Burlington first erected four granite walls in 2017 at Echo Park, recognizing thousands of veterans who served the United States, officials left room for additional names on the backside at a later date. However making that area accessible to all is a new challenge facing the community.
COURT NEWS: A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 26 for a Burlington man charged with drunken driving after crashing into a field and ditch near Burlington Garden Center. Santino A. Luciano, 42, was charged May 18 in Racine County Circuit Court with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, fourth offense; threat to a law enforcement officer; resisting an officer; and disorderly conduct.
PARK PLANS: A community plaza, expanded parking, flexible performance space, and a pier are just some preliminary components presented as part of the Echo Park Master Planning project.
CHIEF CHANGE: The City of Burlington Police Department ended one era of leadership and started another this week with former Lt. Brian Zmudzinski taking charge as police chief. However, before Zmudzinski began his tenure, the City of Burlington recognized his predecessor Mark Anderson.
WALK-OFF WIN: The Catholic Central softball team opened the postseason with a dramatic victory when freshman Olivia Doolittle delivered a game-winning, two-run hit.
