A shopping trip to Sentry Food in Mount Pleasant resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old Union Grove woman for multiple charges.
Michelle L. Blaser, 14808 Washington Avenue, Union Grove, is charged as a repeat offender with felony posession of cocaine, misdemeanor retail theft and misdemeanor possession of an illegally obtained prescription drug.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Racine County Circuit Court:
Sentry Food personnel contacted Mount Pleasant police Nov. 25 and asked that Blaser, a customer, be searched.
South Shore Fire personnel were also called out and arrived on scene to check Blaser’s vital signs. Police report she appeared lethargic and was having difficulty answering officers’ questions.
After being cleared by rescue personnel, police searched Blaser.
The search uncovered unspecified items from Sentry Food as well as tagged women’s underwear for which Blaser claimed she had a receipt in her purse.
Police also discovered one half of a yellow pill and a small baggie containing what was later identified as cocaine.
Blaser appeared in court Dec. 8 with a public defender attorney. At that time, she waived her right to a preliminary hearing, was bound over for trial and a “not guilty” plea was entered at her arraignment.
Blaser is next scheduled to be in Racine County Circuit Court Jan. 13 for a pre-trial conference.
If convicted of all charges, Blaser faces 12 years, 9 months in prison; fines of up to $20,500; or both.
