Hometown Picnic set for Saturday
The seventh annual Dover-Kansasville Hometown Picnic is set for Saturday, Aug. 25, with events geared toward families as well as music, animals and fireworks.
The event is scheduled to begin at noon Eagle Lake County Park. Certified trainer Kathy Edstrom of Paws-A-Tive Choice will give a clinic on dog behavior and agility, K-9 scent work and stunt displays.
There will also be historical displays, a petting tent, raffle prizes, antique tractors, fire trucks, a food and beer court and free root beer floats (one per person while supplies last).
Live music will be provided by the Union Grove Village Drum Circle from noon to 1 p.m., the Racine County Rounders from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and the Dukes of Dover from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
The Big Wheel Time Trials are back as well, with tricycles and helmets provided for all children who want to compete. A $6 wristband (two for $10) will also be available for purchase, where children can enter the Kids Zone from noon to 5 p.m. for games and giant bounce houses.
Puppy and kitten adoption will be offered by Animal Hospital of Union Grove and Safe Harbor Humane Society.
The boat parade will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and the fireworks scheduled to start shortly after.
