Developers with Dollar General presented initial plans to Union Grove Planning Commission members Aug. 5 for building a 9,100 square-foot store on a vacant lot at the intersection of York Street and state Highway 11.

The national discount chain is seeking to rezone an area deemed industrial after formerly housing a rubber factory for several years.

Dollar General recently approved a lease to come to Union Grove, according to Point of Beginning engineer Jim Lundberg, the company contracted to begin the phase of developing the store

Lundberg explained the chain has completed a six-month process in finding the right location within the Village of Union Grove and the lease was approved in July to begin development.

  1. No wonder Union Grove can’t get any business’. Just bring in another Junk Store to go with their lousy fast food. If they were smart they would try and bring in what nobody else has in the area. But then again it’s Union Grove
