Members of the Racine County Metro Drug Unit set up a buy/bust operation June 25 at the Renaissance Cinema on Highway 20 in Sturtevant. As a result, besides drugs, they recovered guns, ammunition, and marijuana growing equipment.
According to the criminal complained filed in Racine County Circuit Court:
Drug Unit members set up an operation with a confidential informant, who made arrangements to meet with Raymond Gullan, 45, of Caledonia, at the movie theater complex.
Agents stopped Gullan’s car as it arrived in the parking. It was searched and officers recovered more than a quarter-pound of marijuana inside a baggie.
Also located within the vehicle was a loaded semi-automatic handgun, two canisters of pepper spray and two knives.
Agents then executed a search warrant at Gullan’s residence, where they recovered more than a pound of marijuana, 42 grams of hashish and a sophisticated indoor hydroponics marijuana-grow operation with 134 marijuana plants.
During the search of Gullan’s residence, an assault rifle, three semi-automatic handguns and ammunition were also recovered.
Gullan was arrested and taken to the Racine County Jail. He made an initial appearance in court June 26, at which time probable cause was found that he had committed the crimes with which he is charged.
He was released June 26 after signing a $5,000 signature bond. He was next due in court July 3 for a preliminary hearing, when a judge could consider whether or not the case should proceed to trial.
Gullan is charged with a misdemeanor of carrying a concealed weapon and felony possession with intent to deliver marijuana in an amount of 200 or less grams.
If convicted of both charges, Gullan faces a maximum of four years, three months in prison; $20,000 in fines; or both.
