Former District 21 State Sen. Kim Plache plans to be present at the Monday, Oct. 7 Union Grove Planning Commission meeting to discuss economic development.
Plache, now a member of the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA), was invited to attend by Village Trustee Gordon Svendsen.
Plache will be able to offer a PowerPoint presentation, “and we have invited the Community Development Authority and the full board to attend,” Svendsen said.
The announcement was made at the Sept. 23 Village Board meeting. Svendsen had told plan commissioners Sept. 16 that Plache planned to make time in her schedule to attend a meeting here.
“I contacted her and she said she would be happy to come and share any information she has with us,” Svendsen stated at the Planning Commission meeting.
The Planning Commission is requesting more information about economic development after the Southeast Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC) presented its housing and economic development findings at a July 1 Commission meeting.
Village President Mike Aimone stated at the July 1 commission meeting that contractors have often inquired about community needs in regards to new developments.
Svendsen explained that Plache will present the kinds of programs “we can point developers toward if someone were wanting to develop here.”
Planning Commission member Penny Sharp had expressed concern about local unemployment rates and economic growth within the community at the Sept. 16 Commission meeting.
