A refreshing round of golf on a frozen lake is one of the more original ways to fight cabin fever. In Kansasville this month, it’ll also be a way to help out the community.
The Kansasville-Dover Betterment Committee invites brave fun-seekers from around the area to its inaugural Winter Golf fundraiser on Eagle Lake, Sunday, Feb. 23, noon to 3 p.m.
“It’s a sure cure for the winter blahs, but more importantly, proceeds will be divided between the Racine County Dive Team to purchase a radar system, and to support events like the Hometown Picnic.
“We’re always looking for ways to have fun while bringing the community together,” said Patrick Haley, president of the Betterment Committee.
There will be a nine-hole course set up on the lake in front of Michael’s on the Lake.
Instead of a golf ball, each team will use one tennis ball; each person is allowed one club of his or her choice.
Clubs and tennis balls will be provided, but people are encouraged to bring their own favorite club.
After a shot-gun start at noon, teams will scramble from hole to hole. A winner’s trophy will be awarded to the team with the lowest score, but the worst score will also be duly noted.
Entry fee is $10 per golfer at the door. Sign-up is at 11:30 a.m. and people can form their own teams of two or four if they wish. Spectators are free.
Fundraising raffles, and food and drink specials will be available inside the restaurant. Michael’s on the Lake is located off Highway 11 in Kansasville at 3101 Eagle Road.
