A Hymn Sing, with stories, scriptures, backgrounds and illustrations of each hymn, in honor of Memorial Day and all who have served will be observed at Yorkville United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 25. Readers at the 8 a.m. service will be Ron Hansen, retired National Guard, and Krystle Henningfeld, current National Guard.
Veterans who will be readers at the 10:15 a.m. service are Skip Kovach, Army National Guard; James Moyer, Army/Korea; Chuck Newell, Army and Air Force/Desert Storm; and Laurie Henkel, Nathan and Abby, in honor of Dale Jante, Army/Vietnam. The special hymns include “America the Beautiful”,” “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” the Doxology and “How Great Thou Art.”
In addition, the Hims of Harmony will sing “The Star Spangled Banner” and “John the Revelator” at the 10:15 a.m. service. The church is completely accessible by elevator. All are invited to this special Memorial Day service.
