Stabbing victim accused of making a big deal of it

A 55-year-old Kansasville man reportedly stabbed his live-in girlfriend with a kitchen knife to protect himself against men he believed were hiding in the attic.

Lardara J. Solomon reportedly admitted that he stabbed the woman, but described her as vengeful for complaining to police about it.

He is charged with first-degree attempted intentional homicide by use of a dangerous weapon and substantial battery by use of a dangerous weapon. Both charges carry domestic abuse enhancements.

According to the criminal complaint filed Feb. 21 in Racine County Circuit Court:

Deputies who arrived at the couple’s Beaumont Avenue home observed the woman’s clothing and left breast area to be covered in blood.

She said she and Solomon had argued over his accusations that she was cheating on him with some men he claimed he could hear up in the attic. She said he had been drinking and not taking his medication.

She said Solomon went to the kitchen to get knives to protect himself from the people he believed were in the attic. She said Solomon kicked her and stabbed her with one of the knives, then fled the scene.

The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment; her stab wound required four stitches to close.

Deputies located Solomon a short distance away and took him into custody.

He admitted to drinking that evening and admitted attacking the woman.

He said the knife “did not go all the way in” and claimed the victim was making a bigger deal out of it, describing her and other women as being vengeful.

Solomon made an initial appearance in court Feb. 21, when probable cause was found that he had committed the crime with which he is charged. A $50,000 cash bond was set.

As of press time, Solomon remained confined to the Racine County Jail.

He was next due in court for a Feb. 27 preliminary hearing.
