A 10-year-old Kansasville boy injured in an All Terrain Vehicle accident last week has died.
Timothy Jorgenson, a fourth grader at Cooper Elementary School in Burlington, died April 2 – three days after the incident.
Jorgensen had been taken by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin, and according to his obituary, died at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
According to a press release from the Racine County Sheriff’s Department, Jorgenson was wearing a helmet while riding the ATV on private property.
Parents at Cooper Elementary School were notified by letter April 3. The accident took place over Burlington Area School District’s spring break, which extended over Monday as well with the Easter holiday.
Cooper Principal Christine Anderson wrote the letter, calling Jorgenson “an outstanding student who cared about others in the school community.
“His sweet and witty personality was what made him special to the students and staff,” she wrote.
Anderson provided literature to parents on how to address the topic of death with students, and a crisis team of counselors and staff was available Tuesday.
Anderson declined to comment further for the article.
Services for Jorgenson were being held April 10.
