Four churches in the greater Union Grove area will join together for ecumenical Holy Week services.
On April 2, at 7 p.m., a Maundy Thursday service will be hosted by Yorkville United Methodist Church, 17645 Old Yorkville Road (just north of Highway 20).
The service will include symbolic hand washing, the sacrament of The Last Supper (Holy Communion) and a Tenebrae service (gradual extinguishing of candles). The Yorkville choir will sing the anthem, “Think of Me and Remember.”
On April 3, at 12:10 p.m., a Good Friday service will be hosted by Union Grove United Methodist Church, 908 – 12th Ave. Participating pastors and congregations are: Pastor Sue Leih of Yorkville UMC; Pastor Douglas Clement of Union Grove UMC; and Pastor Manda Stack of Raymond Community Church UCC and Union Grove Congregational Church UCC.
The public is invited to worship at these Holy Week services.
