Challenger Dan Dickinson has succeeded in his campaign to recall Town of Waterford Sanitary District No. 1 Commissioner Bill Gerard, according to the unofficial results of Tuesday’s election.
Results posted Tuesday night by Racine County Clerk Wendy Christensen show Dickinson with 45 percent of the vote (475) to Gerard’s 37 percent (394). There were two write-ins and 188 undervotes (neither candidate selected).
While the election signals a changing of the guard – at least temporarily – for the district, ramifications of the contentious campaign are likely to reverberate for some time to come.
The two waged an intense political battle over the current management and direction of the district with Dickinson calling for change and Gerard supporting the status quo.
