Inaugural River’s Edge Art Walk set

“Native American portrait” by Waterford native Dave Koel will be among the artwork to be on display Oct. 19.

The inaugural River’s Edge Art Walk will be held Friday, Oct. 19, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will feature 25 artists exhibiting and selling their artwork at 18 different business locations throughout the Waterford downtown area.

Artwork will range from ceramic, raku, woodcraft, water and oil paintings, photography, jewelry, pottery, woodcraft and more and will be available for sale.

An event brochure will include a map to direct people on a leisurely stroll through the village, where they can visit a variety of artisans located inside downtown businesses. Each location will be easily identifiable by balloons.

While wandering through the shops, visitors are welcome to enjoy a bite to eat or quench their thirst at a variety of eateries. Also, look for evening specials that will be advertised in the brochure.

Musical entertainment will be found throughout the downtown at seven locations.

This event is presented for the entire family at no charge and is sponsored by Absolutely Waterford, a Wisconsin Main Street program member.

Volunteers sought

To ensure success and fun, the Art Walk event will need help from community volunteers, said Elizabeth Theirbah, of the River’s Edge Art Walk Guild.

Many hands will be needed Oct. 19 for short periods of time, she said.

Volunteers will be needed to:

• set up and take down tables and chairs;

• decorate flower pots that will hold helium balloon bouquets serving as artist location markers;

• assemble, fold and distribute informational pamp-hlets; and

• hang Art Walk posters in various locations.
Volunteers will be asked to assist in two-hour blocks of time from around 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 19, Theirbah added. “Working together is the only way we will be able to have a truly great event.”
