One man is dead after being thrown from the car he was driving as it flipped over upon leaving County Highway L, about a mile south of Highway 83, in the Town of Waterford Friday morning.
According to a press release from the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, the call came in at about 10:30 a.m. A witness told deputies there was a one-car, roll-over crash and the driver had been ejected from the vehicle.
When police arrive they found a red Honda in the east ditch line with the driver a few feet away. The driver and lone occupant of the car was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police report a dog inside the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to a nearby residence until Countryside Humane Society arrived to care for it.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the car was westbound on Highway L when it swerved for unknown reasons and spun into the south ditch, striking a culvert and becoming airborne before rolling a single time, coming to land on it’s wheels.
The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of the family.
The matter is still under investigation. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, officials said.
