While several school board and local municipal contests have generated enough interest to produce candidates vying against each other for a seat on the board, many other races in the April 3 election are uncontested.
A listing follows of area seats appearing on the April 3 ballot that do not feature a contested race.
• WATERFORD GRADED SCHOOL DISTRICT (three seats).
Incumbents Daniel Jensen (who is also seeking election to the Waterford Union High School Board), Blaine Nicholls and Douglas Schwartz are all unopposed.
When former board member Chuck Poole moved out of state, Nicholls was appointed to Poole’s position.
As a result, the top two vote getters in this election receive full three-year terms; the third position runs for one year.
The positions pay $3,400 annually.
• UNION GROVE UNION HIGH SCHOOL (two seats)
Incumbents Paula Craven-Jasperson and Steve McClelland are unopposed.
After former board member Tom Mauer moved out of state last year, Craven-Jasperson was appointed to Mauer’s position.
As a result, the top vote getter in this election will receive a full three-year term; the second position runs for one year.
The positions pay $2,500 for board members and $3,000 for board president, positions that are determined by board vote after the election.
• WASHINGTON-CALDWELL DISTRICT (two seats)
Incumbent Todd Bluhm is unopposed.
Incumbent Bill Kieckhefer is not seeking re-election.
A candidate for the second position could be written in on ballots. If no write-in candidate is elected, the board will then appoint another member.

These board positions are determined by board vote after the election.
