After months of scrutiny and discussion, the Waterford Village Board has approved a resolution on the façade and signage grant improvement program that has been under discussion in the downtown business Heritage District.
The resolution, approved Aug. 27, points to a number of specific guidelines that grant applicants must follow for eligibility.
For example, improvements must be in keeping with the targeted goal of improving the overall curb appeal of businesses.
The grant program is a joint effort between the village and the Absolutely Waterford organization. The village plans to market and promote the initiative by providing a link to Absolutely Waterford on its official website.
Bingo!
The Waterford Lions Club has been granted permission to hold Bingo at the Whitford Park Community Building, 625 N. River Road, on an ongoing basis.
Lions members requested the permit after the success of the Club’s initiated tournaments during this year’s Racine County Fair.
Monthly Bingo is planned for Tuesday evenings Oct. 9, Nov. 13 and Dec. 11, beginning at 7 p.m. Early Bird Bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. Wisconsin Lottery pull tabs will be sold throughout the night.
Clean Sweep 2013
The Waterford Village Board has decided to continue the village’s participation in the Clean Sweep Program in 2013.
The program gives residents an opportunity to safely dispose of a variety of unwanted items, ranging from dehumidifiers to old electronics.
Several area municipalities have taken part in Clean Sweep in recent years. Each participant pays Veolia, the waste management firm disposing of the items, to take part in the program.
The 2013 Clean Sweep has been slated for Saturday, April 27.
