Firefighters from the Wind Lake area and beyond responded to a multi-alarm house fire on 7261 E. Wind Lake Road in the Town of Norway Tuesday morning.
Initial radio dispatches from Racine County Sheriff’s deputies responding to the scene about 10:15 a.m. indicate that no one was at the home when the fire broke out.
According to a press release issued by the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, the first deputy to arrive on scene reported heavy smoke coming from the windows and roof of the house.
The Wind Lake Fire Department sought additional equipment and personnel through the Mutual Aid Alarm Box System. Units from Raymond, Rochester and Franklin responded and assisted in extinguishing the fire.
According to the sheriff’s department, the kitchen and lower level of the home suffered extensive damage in the fire.
The blaze remains under investigation by the Racine County Fire Investigation Task Force.
