At July 22 monthly meeting of the Waterford Graded School Board, Superintendent Chris Joch welcomed Kathleen “Kathy” Hoppe, the District’s new Assistant Superintendent and Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment.              “It’s been a real good start for her,” Joch told Board members, commending Hoppe on her staff involvement and quickly getting up to speed.

“She has hit the ground running by meeting with key people to develop an understanding of our curriculum work and status of instructional initiatives,” Joch added afterward, via email.

Hoppe, who started her position in the School District July 1, comes to Waterford from the Howard-Suamico School District, a suburb of Green Bay. She served there as an administrator for 16 years, first as an elementary school principal and then as the Director of Teaching and Learning for Elementary Education.

“Kathy’s experience in elementary level programming will be a great addition to our District’s leadership team,” Joch said.

Early in her career, Hoppe was a teacher in Howard-Suamico for eight years and then joined the Appleton Area School District as an assistant principal, before returning to Howard-Suamico as an administrator.

“When combining her experiences and leadership style, WGSD is very fortunate to have a professional of this caliber join us in a time of statewide transformation of public education,” Joch said.

Hoppe’s responsibilities in the Waterford Graded schools include working with teachers as well as principals on curriculum updates and instructional initiatives of the District and State.

Hoppe replaces Ron Rivard, who recently resigned as Assistant Superintendent to become the Director of Instruction for the Waukesha School District.
