Electors voted for a drop in the tax levy and a pay raise for board members at the Aug. 27 Waterford Union High School District annual meeting.
About fifty people attended Tuesday night – a mix of residents, district employees and local officials.
The tax levy, at $7,871,539 was easily approved by voice vote. It is part of a $12,258,074 budget for the new school year.
The 2013-14 levy is nearly 1 percent lower than the levy for 2012-13. Assuming a 0 percent growth in area property values, the new levy anticipates a tax mill rate of $4.44 per $1,000 assessed valuation, slightly less than the $4.48/$1,000 rate paid last year in high school taxes.
