A 32-year-old Waterford man is charged with stealing more then $16,000 worth of aluminum concrete forms from two area businesses.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Racine County Circuit Court:
Kenneth Lorenz, of North Seventh Street, asked the owners of two construction-related Waterford businesses for permission to borrow a few aluminum concrete forms.
The owners agreed, but Lorenz never returned the borrowed materials, the complaint alleges.
Instead, he himself returned and stole 25 forms from a local masonry business and another 48 forms from a poured walls contractor.
Lorenz reportedly admitted selling a Union Grove recycling center 25 forms he stole from the Waterford masonry business. Its owners valued that material at about $4,250.
Lorenz also reportedly admitted selling around 36 forms he stole from the Waterford poured walls contractor to a Franksville building contractor.
Police recovered 48 forms from the Franksville site that the Waterford contractor identified as belonging to his business. He placed their value at about $12,000.
Lorenz is charged with two felony counts of theft of moveable property, with additional sentencing enhancements as a repeat offender.
If convicted of those charges, he faces a maximum of 21 years in prison; $35,000 in fines; or both.
Lorenz made an initial appearance in Racine County Circuit Court Feb. 13, at which time the court found probable cause that he had committed the crimes with which he is charged.
Lorenz was next due in court Feb. 22, when a judge was expected to consider whether or not the matter should proceed to trial.
