Current plans are to have Waterford Town Supervisor Tom Hincz officially sworn in sometime Monday, April 15, as the new Waterford town chairman.
Hincz will replace long-time chairman Robert Langmesser, who is retiring.
Aug. 15 is also the date the public is invited to say good-bye to Langmesser at an informal farewell party at the Town Hall, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 415 N. Milwaukee St.
On April 2, voters elected Hincz to the board chairman position over Supervisor Tim Szeklinski, who also ran for the post.
“I personally feel that Tim and I ran a very clean campaign,” Hincz commented afterward, “and there’s no animosity between us. We’ll continue to work together as we have before, with mutual respect. It’s that simple.”
Langmesser said Hincz has been hard at work during the transition period. “Tom’s been there every day, he’s doing a good job. He’s a very knowledgeable guy.”
A special meeting to interview candidates interested in being appointed to Hincz’s now-vacant trustee position will be called, probably in the latter part of April, according to Hincz.
Langmesser will be off the Town Board when that special meeting is held, so it is expected that, under state law, Town Clerk Tina Mayer will step in to be the fifth vote taken.
Mayer said she planned to contact the state Government Accountability Board later this week to confirm exactly what needs to be done.
Requiring Mayer to sit in for the vote could prove to be a bit awkward, but she’ll handle the temporary assignment professionally, Langmesser said.
Town Board members decide Mayer’s pay, he explained, as well as details about many of Mayer’s assigned job duties.
