Village well working again

A once malfunctioning well has sprung back into working order this spring in the Village of Waterford,

At a Village Board meeting held last month, Director of Public Works Jeff Dolezal reported that Well No. 1, located behind the Village Hall grounds at 123 N. River St., is functioning well with a new generator in place.

During the winter months, when water usage is historically low, Dolezal and other officials examined the well as part of a routine 10-year process. The inspection revealed the need to correct a broken piece of 40-foot pipe as well as a worn-down pump.

Fire and Police Commission set

With a list of appointees already made, members of the Waterford Village Board have selected terms for each of the five members serving on the new Fire and Police Commission.

The board decided to stagger the initial terms of the commissioners. All terms of office are effective as of May 1, 2013.

Commissioners and their terms of office, selected last month via a random lottery, are: James Zuehlke, five years; Kimberly Migazzi, four years; Mark Schaefer, three years; Laura Halbach, two years; and Tim Doyle, one year. The commission is set to begin its duties in September.

Temporary use permit fee stays the same

Village of Waterford officials have decided to keep the temporary use permit fee charged to residents, organizations and businesses flat for the next year. Members of the Village Board’s Finance Committee had been reviewing a proposal to amend the fee structure. Committee members recommended reducing the current $100 rate to $50 per permit. But the full board decided to maintain a status-quo approach because a reduction could make it difficult to recoup costs.
