Blaze causes estimated $100,000 damage to home
A family dog died Wednesday morning in a fire that caused about $100,000 damage to a home in the Village of Rochester.
None of the residents of the house in the 29000 block of Hickory Lane were home when the fire broke out sometime after 8 a.m., according to a press release issued by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.
The department received a 911 call from a neighbor who reported seeing flames shooting out of the house.
According to the release, deputies determined the fire was primarily in the front portion of the one-story, single-family home.
Firefighting units from the Village of Rochester and Village of Waterford were able to quickly put out the fire, officials said.
There were no injuries reported to fire personnel. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials don’t believe it to be suspicious.
