Meet local author and historian Robert J. Laplander at a special event marking the U.S. release of his book, “The True Story of the Wooden Horse,” on Thursday, Oct. 16, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Waterford Public Library, 101 N. River St.
A screening of the 1950 movie based on the actual WWII POW escape presented in the book will be from 6 p.m. to 7:40 p.m.
A special display of POW paraphernalia, and POW re-enactors to guide you, as well as reproduction items used in the escape, will be on hand.
The exhibit also includes a full-size replica of the wooden vaulting horse used in the actual escape.
