Earl E. Johnson, 98, of Spring Prairie, died his residence Sept. 29, 2011. He was born May 14, 1913, in Bartlett, Ill., to the late John and Mary (Dufer) Johnson.
He spent his early life in West Chicago and Bartlett, and was a graduate of Wayne Center Seven High in West Chicago.
He married Isabelle Claire Klein on Nov. 29, 1934, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Chicago. Following marriage they resided in West Chicago before moving to Burlington in 1957. She preceded him in death June 29, 1999.
He was a dairy farmer who enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and airplanes. He was also a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington.
Survivors include his children, Linda (John) Horcher of Barrington, Ill., Richard (Linda) of Burlington, Marvin (Cheryl) of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Christine (James) Lancour of Burlington, daughter-in-law, Joan Johnson of Burlington; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and by a sister, Mary Arens of North Aurora, Ill.
He was further preceded in death by his daughter, Elaine Volling; son, Earl G., and brother, John.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, Oct. 3, at St. Charles Catholic Church, 440 Kendall St. in Burlington. The Rev. Steve Amann will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Dr., Burlington.
